Hotel Receptionist


Key Responsibilities:
  • Registers and rooms all arrivals according to established procedures
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental standards and procedures
  • Performs check in, check out and room change procedures and ensures all data are entered completely into the hotel systems in accordance with reservation
  • Prepares all required information for a well handled group check in and check out
  • Daily based cashier check of all open balances, especially city ledgers
  • Maintains cashier float and ensures accurate daily report of all money receive
  • Cashes hotel guest’s personal and travellers checks and assists with currency exchange
  • Handles the correct billing of guest expenses
  • Stays informed about all modifications to accounting policies and procedures
  • Responsibly for the correct message handling
  • Daily check of all departures, informing guests about late check out costs and procedures
  • Responsible and attends to guest’s request at all times
  • Knowledgeable of all special promotion procedures, for programs such as Seasonal Packages, Frequent Flyers Programs and IHG loyalty programs
  • Performs the audit balances and prepares all works for audit in an orderly fashion
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of reservation procedures including correct forms to use, e-mail, messages, and how to interpret availability sources within the reservation systems
  • Takes personal interest and pride to ensure that the front desk work area is kept clean and orderly all times
  • Endeavours to ensure priority members known, repeat guests and other VIPs receive special attention and recognition
  • Demonstrate service attributes in accordance with industry expectations and company standards including: -

    ✓Being attentive to Guests- Accurately and promptly fulfilling Guests requests

    ✓Anticipate Guests needs

    ✓Maintain a high level of knowledge which might affect the Guest experience

    ✓Demonstrating a ‘Service’ attitude

  • Appreciate the dynamic nature of the Hotel industry and extend these service attributes to all internal customers
  • Greets guests at all times and attempts to learn and use guest’s name at every opportunity
  • Does everything possible to ensure that the guests depart the hotel with a positive impression of hotel service
  • Attends to guest’s complaints, inquiries and requests, referees problems to Guest Service Manager Front Office if unable to assist
  • Comply with Hotel Rules and Regulations and provisions contained in the Employment Handbook
  • Comply with Company Grooming Standards. Maintains exemplary department standards of behaviour and appearance and attitude as expected in a Splendid Hotel
  • Comply with Time and Attendance Policies
  • Actively participate in training and development programs and maximize opportunities for self-development
  • Is familiar with Company Health and Safety Policies and ensures operational areas promote and comply with them
  • Take responsibility to rectify hazardous situations, reporting major areas of concern to Reception Manager and /or General Manager
  • Is familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and actively enforces these in area of responsibility
  • Ensure security incidents in the operational area are reviewed and corrective measures implemented to prevent recurring incidents * Comply with the Company’s Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Be familiar with the company values and model desired behaviour
  • Performs tasks as directed by the Reception Manager in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.

    Required education:High school or equivalent
    Required experience: 1 Year Hotel Management
